Carnew Youth Training Project
Carnew Youth Training is a training project set up to meet the needs of early school leavers in the Carnew
and surrounding areas. Training will be provided to 15 participants in the areas of Art and Design, Basic Computers,
Communications, Video/Graphics and job seeking skills. The above Training Modules will be certified by The
Further Education Training Awards Council (FETAC.) The Training Programme is a joint project being delivered
by County Wicklow VEC, Carnew Enterprise Centre, FÁS and the Department of Social and Family Affairs.
The Training Aim of the programme is to “Engage & Progress” 16-22 year olds whose general educational attainment
is low in a form of education initiative that will assist them to identify a further training path and ultimately
a career path.
At the end of the overall training period trainees will be able to:
- Perform a variety of Mathematical applications relevant to training and work situations.
- Communicate with self-confidence in both work and personal situations.
- Move from dependence to independence i.e., plan a progression route for themselves from unemployment
to employment.
- Work as a member of a team.
- Operate a computer at a basic level.
