Back To Education Initiative (BTEI)
The Back to Education Initiative was implemented by County Wicklow VEC in 2002. It provides opportunities to return to part-time learning for young people and adults. It's main priority is to provide flexible part-time and innovative education opportunities for those with less than upper second level education and who want to combine a return to education with work, family life or other responsibilities. Part-time programmes under the BTEI are intended to make further education more accessible generally. A high priority is to target the individuals and groups that experience particular barriers to participation and are more difficult to engage in the formal learning process.
The range of courses on offer includes Literacy and Communications, Computer and Business Skills, Childcare, Art and craft, etc. Subjects are also offered at Junior, Leaving Certificate and FETAC level.
